Below are the 2025 March Madness Efficiency Ratio Ratings (ERR), ranked in order from the best to the worst. What is the efficiency ratio rating?

Each school has both an offensive efficiency ratings as well as a defensive efficiency rating. The offensive efficiency rating measures a team’s or player’s ability to score points per 100 possessions, while the defensive efficiency rating measures how many points a team allows per 100 possessions.

The rankings below are based on which schools have the best ratio between both ratings, revealing the most efficient teams on both ends of the court. Usually, teams with high ERR’s go deep into the tournament or provide memorable upsets/close games.

It is important to understand each school’s ERR associated with the conference they play in. Schools in weaker conferences might have high ERR’s based on strength-of-schedule, but they might also be the real deal.
